I guess the theoretical renal insufficiency calculation might not usually be applied clinically. It might due to the fact that renal patients are more or less adapted both psychologically and physically.
The calculation is called creatinine clearance, which is an indicator of how well the kidney is working. Serum creatinine is produced continuously and is cleared by the kidney in a stable manner. Creatinine clearance is an objective indicator of the function of the kidney. It is usually applied in calculation of drug dose in very extreme cases, usually require expert monitoring.
