I am working on some texts and have found that some very learned men of religion have twisted or misinterpreted original texts (as far as i understood).
It depends on how the holy Scripture is composed in the first place. Is it allowed to change a former version for a latter one. Are they identical. Do people understand that this is a changed version. What was meant in the first version and so on. In case everyone would understand every scripture directly we would not need those who had to study 6 years to get already a basic understanding.

I think that there is no need to explain religious texts for people. Human beings have the ability of understanding what it is written. When people start to provide an exegesis of a text, they try to insert their opinions and spoil the real meaning. Religion is not a science, it is something to believe in.
Children easily misinterpret what adults say and then think that this is a good deed and God behaves like my father although the adult did not mean that.
