How long should pediatric tonsilectomies recover in PACU before discharge home?

We do pediatric tonsillectomies in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Is there evidence /research on how long these patients should remain in PACU being monitored before being discharged home with their family? We do admit those under 3 years of age and with severe OSA. We have been keeping these patients in PACU for 3 hours, however with patient volumes this is becoming more difficult.
