Dear Mechanical Engineering experts, I need your urgent support:
- How long does it take for an Internal combustion Engine to get the engine block overheated after a cooling system failure? and what is the delay for the block surface to report the same higher temperature?
- In other words, if engine block's temperature is sensed using a sensor attached externally to the engine block surface (firmly in a lug-stud mounting and with perfect thermal conductivity using heat conductive paste), does this sensor can report engine over temperature condition early enough to start corrective actions by the driver , or the inherent delay for heat propagation inside the engine block till reaching the outer surface (i.e. to sensor) will be sufficiently large to get the engine harmed before the external sensor report the over temperature
