17 March 2020 6 9K Report

The coronavirus is affecting our lives in many ways, including conducting field trips and laboratory experiments in research and teaching. In-person classes are now being moved to online, which is okay for classes that require little interaction. But it is challenging to develop those classes for online that need hands-on training and practice, such as those in Earth Science and environmental studies. As we are uncertain about how long the coronavirus will last and whether the virus will be back next fall/winter, I am curious about what would be effective ways to design/structure field trips and laboratory experiments with no or minimal face-to-face interaction. Please feel free to chime in and speak your mind.
