Knowing the faunistic and floristic diversity may give an idea of the potential bio resources that a country has. What parameters can be used to measure these?
It is very important to know the bio resources of ones country. It gives the idea that what you have or not. Documentation in this regard will provide the data of endangered and threatened species. So the measures can be taken accordingly. Depending upon this data one can predict their future. To my mind this is something related to biodiversity. This can be studies using different methods.
The bio-resources of countries could give us information or data beneficial for: (1) biogeographcal study of certain species with its requirement environment. weHowever, because each researcher applied its method (2) mapping biodiversity pattern and distribution (3) phyllogenetic study, (4) ethno- or eco-botany study, and so on. Parameter study can ba focus on level of biodiversity (alpha, beta, gamma, or species, population, community, ecosystem) so either species composition, species richness, species evennes, diversity index, similarity index, Pearson index and so on depending on the objective of the study. However, because there is no standard of measurement there will be different methods used by researcher to access these parameters. It is really broad issue,,,so you could start with your problem related to the bio-resource (in your area/country) and propose your objectives, the measured parameter and used method will follow your objectives.
