Knowledge bases, intranet, and databases have been in use to provide support for KM initiatives in the commercial worked. Although higher education has been somewhat slow to adopt KM, professional literature shows that the use of KM in higher education is gaining ground.
Question: how did your institution utilize its institutional repository to implement new (or support existing) KM initiatives? What kinds of content were uploaded in the IR? Did you develop a special metadata schema and ontology? If you are at an academic institution, which disciplines appeared to have been more receptive to using IRs as part of an academic knowledge management program?
