I am working with PEEK and its mechanical properties such as impact strength, ductility etc. The question I have is the influence of moisture on these properties. We observe quite some variation in the impact strength when measured over a period of time (few months). It has been cold and very dry up to medium cold and very wet but I haven’t recorded the weather all the time. I can image the formation of H-bonds between water and the carbonyl group of PEEK, but does anybody know of an investigation conducted on this subject?
