I am trying to find studies/data that show the impact that the garbage thrown in the ocean can have/has in global economy and in the balneability of beaches/coastal areas around the world.

Hi Gabriel, it is estimated that 7 billion tons of garbage are discharged into the the world's oceans each year. The effects on bathing and economy, in my view, are the same. I recommend this article. Best regards.
