If the doping ionic radii is larger than the host material or vice versa what are the effects on the crystallite size? Does it decrease or Increase with doping?
Does it decrease or increase in size of crystallite? What happens with broadening of XRD peaks and peak shifting?
too general question.. specify at least the material, the production route, the form (powder? film?. i would say there is no relationship at all as the domain size (I prefer this vs calling it crystallite) depends mostly on the production route and the actual production batch, not on the material. In powders you should observe a cell parameter change: larger ion usually leads to a larger unit cell and therefore to a corresponding change in all peak positions (displacement towards low angle)
I got your point. Actually i asked the question based on the powdered form nanoparticles. If the cryatallite size is larger so peaks goes towards lower as you said BUT WHY it is going towards lower angle???
sorry but you did not read carefully.. I did not say that large domain size means shift at low angle. I was talking about larger unit cell due to the presence of a larger ion.
You can see some apparent shift of the peaks in very small nanoparticles due to the fact that you have overlapping and that you work in 2theta space. This is usually observed if youuse traditional or porr techniques for the domain size analysis in very small domains (e.g. Scherrer equation or Rietveld method). There is also some real (not just apparent) peak shift due to surface relaxation/expansion effects

Now what happen with the Crystallite size with substitution of larger or smaller ion in host material in case of nanoparticle?
As i observed in my samples sometimes smaller doping ion increase crystallite size sometimes decrease it. Actually what happen there?Can you send me some relative document?
