Subjectivity sometimes gets in the way of what a doctoral student should know on a given topic and what they need to learn about the topic. How can a student in this predicament get a second opinion when they truly believe the professor is wrong ( or misinformed) on their take on the subject? At what point can this student challenge the status quo without being seeming aggressive or rude?
