How do you make up an aqueous 0.8% thiobarbituric acid solution for a TBARS assay ?

if you mean: thiobarbituric acid (TBA): 0.8% (wt/vol) in 50 mmol/litre NaOH

wt/vol is always g/mL. so if you are making 500ml then you would weight out 500 * 0.008g= 4g thiobarbituric acid then add the liquid to 500ml total.
