Almost everyone now are aware of Beall's list of 'probable' predatory publishers and standalone journals. But what if the publisher is a well-known academic institution in a country and what if the journal is accredited by the educational body of the government of a certain country, are they still considered 'probable' predatory? How about a journal that is indexed in Thomson Reuters and in SCOPUS, but is also in the list of Beall?
Some good advice here. This list could be much, much longer. I would look out for unrealistic turnaround times for Peer Review and false claims for Impact Factors - or using measures other than the the IF from Thomson Reuters JCR.
Either of these would be a red flag to move on. BW Matt
If you are familiar with the journal, read the journal, and it has some reliable citation report (meaning the other people also read that journal), it is probably a legitimate journal. If you stick to journals you are familiar with you won't have any problem.

While the original Beall's list web site (scholarly-oa.com) does not host the list anymore anyway, I have recently come across a web site

which claims to build on and expand the Beall's list (see https://predatoryjournals.com/about/ ).
