One can not calculate the mass balnace for a chemical reaction in a fixed-bed reactor. One can derive the mass balance equation/s (it depends on how many lineary independent chemical reactions are) and to solve the differential equation/s obtained for given initial condition/s. Simplifying assumptions are needed! Regards,

In the case of FBR, there may be a differential balance, but it may also be a total balance. where FBR is treated as a black box, i.e. only the inlet and outlet streams are taken into account. Regards,
