When we see a character displaying existentialist characteristics, at the same time it is also expressing its inner self. Does this show that existentialism and expressionism share a common ground? For example- issues of identities are expressionist and existentialist as well.

(Robert Solomon). Whereas, in Expressionism there is portayal of an static elements for example paintings that depict a leaf falling from sky. I which the palling leaf if portryed in art is the impressionistic quality. further more seeing impressionistic painting is necessary
A lovely question. Expressionism, in its German phase, expresses despair in remarkably expressive ways. Existentialism, as the embrace of the absurdity of value in the void, is also expressive--but the sound of despair muffled by the wind. Existentialism finds solace in the not-hearing of the communicative act or its expression.
