How do we choose a power supply to charge a battery?

I need to complete a project in the field of information...

Following are the parameters considered for choosing power supply for battery charging

1. charging voltage + the drop across linear element used for charge control= power supply voltage.

2. the current should be equal to c/10, c/5, c/2 etc, as per the charging algorithm chosen for charging, where as c= battery max. current capacity
