By a 3D devil's staircase I mean the plot of the rotation number (or any invariant property distinguishing states of the system) as a function of the ratios w2:w1 and w3:w1, where w1, w2 and w3 are the oscillator frequencies in the case of zero coupling. What I am interested in is which kind of shape the regions of constant rotation number generally take on, and how the relative strengths of the couplings between oscillator 1 and 2, oscillator 1 and 3, and oscillator 2 and 3 affect it.
