I have done cyclic voltammetry experiments. I know that the roughness factor is calculated by dividing the real surface area to geometric surface area. But i confused about the units.
Surface roughness is completely different from one working electrode to another and it completely dependent on your physical preparation of the surface (polishing, washing, ultrasonication,...), reaction media (aq or nonaq), electrochemical cleaning at last and can not be the same even in a series of the same electrochemical tests becasue of the new ET in each run. Anyway, it can be estimated approximately for any special WE with a limited surface area. Platinum electrodes can be less affected by corrosive reactin media than the others so its surface roughness can be approximately less changed.
