I have a 120 ps pulsed laser with variable repetition rate from 0.5 Hz to 10 Hz. I am using this source to excite a sample and collect emission data using a fiber-optic spectrometer with integration time from 10 microsecond to 1 minute. Can anyone suggest some possible single-shot detection measurement techniques for these specs and scheme? The spectrometer has facility for external triggering too.
Hi Dr.Roman, the fluorescence decay time is around 3 to 4 ns.
You will have to externally trigger the spectrometer with your light pulse, and hope that the trigger jitter is small. But - even then, you have light emission for 3-4nsec over the minimum integration time of 10microsecond -not easy to detect! Ideally if you want to do single shot measurements, you need a faster/more sensitive detector!
You should have more sensitive and fast detector. We have also the same problem + an emission of our samples is random, no any trigger.
