As you know, Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP) is an important issue which is affected by the new challenges of smart grids. One of these challenges is Demand Response programs. Now, I wanted to know how can we model Demand Response programs for long term transmission planning.
Well transmission planning specifically the power network is an expensive part of the power system. It can be expended but on the verge of huge cost. So before planning for transmission infrastructure DR would be an additional advantage to calculate the capacity factor of your system. Capacity factor will be based on your future loads and generations. So by predicting the future loads and the generation capacity you may model DR program for TEP. You should look into (Atwa, 2010) for reference and upgrade it for TEP.
