Organize the hiring and promotion of academics on clear expectations of publishing in reputable venues (international journals with decent or high citation impact factors).
Teaching-wise:
Require academics to get training in teaching methods & pedagogy + introduce a system of teaching evaluations by students that count for hiring and promotion.
I think one of the reasons why universities in Sudan and elsewhere in the developing world are not so highly ranked is because one of the criteria used by ranking organisations is the recruitment of academic staff internationally.
Thank you all, I think research, peer observation teaching, quality of the students entering the university, updated library, recruitment of high caliber international staff (although Sudan has a highly qualified staff, but because of the economy, they work in the neighboring countries), link to international educational bodies, good budget, retention of staff and above all the system and services. Could you please comment on these?
