I want to hydrolyse the -cyno group selectively into the Amide as well as Acid functionality, I have already tried in Basic madium but no positive result.
Try the Pinner reaction; it will give you an ester. Alternatively, show us your molecule.
What other functionalities are present in your molecule besides the nitrile?
I have recently cleaved nitriles under strong base and under strong acidic solutions. There are also options to react the nitrile directly to make amides using catalysis. Depending on your subsequent chemistry
