We have coated the activated carbon slurry (AC/PVDF; 90/10 in NMP solvent) on copper foil via the solution casting method. After further heat treatment, its physical appearance was looking good but while cutting the disc for coin cell preparation, the activated carbon got shattered and the whole coating was becoming powdery? How can we address this problem?
use hydraulic press to apply pressure to the (Cu foil + A.Carbon) before you cut the foil into disks.

The Xiaohui Shen et al., have published in august 2020 good work titled "Study on the Application of Carbon-coated Copper Foil as Negative Current Collector for Silicon-based Lithium-ion Batteries". Part of this work was similar to your interest as it includes the preparation of carbon coated copper foil conducted by a simple method, conductive carbon along with resin binder was coated on the copper foil surface by an intaglio printing process.
