better if the method mimics the in-vivo conditions viz.., RBC membrane or LDL, also in case LDL needs to be employed, extracting sufficient amounts from animal blood in the ultra-centrifuge is being difficult. Pls suggest
You can detect lipid peroxidation by measuring conjugated dienes using spectrophotometric method. It can be applied both in vitro and in vivo....TBARS sometimes gives false positive indication of lipid peroxidation as other aldehydes other than MDA can react with thiobarbituric acid.
Try to go for TBARS (thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) experiment by which you can easily determine the lipid peroxidation potential of a compound. 1st tell me whether ur study is invivo or invitro???
