I have been synthesizing ZnSe QDs, doped with Cu or Mn through aqueous route. I use MPA as capping agent in 1:2 molar ratio with compared to metal ion concentration. The synthesis procedure produces brightly fluorescent ZnSe QDs, however on standing at room temperature in dark place also, the previously transparent solution becomes brown and turbid suggesting agglomeration. I had then purified the QDs through precipitation and dispersal in distilled water, but observed the same effect. Kindly suggest to me how to overcome this problem? Also whether coating with silica shell would increase the stability or not?
