I have an object that I want to track its translation and 2D rotation. right now I have a Matlab code that doesn't really work. I find out that CV is better for those kinds of analysis. I would like to know how to do that or better - find a CV that already works.
There is a picture of the object I want to monitor. By the way, the frame rate is high enough so the rotation angle is less than 72 deg which means that we can be sure what the angle is.

first of all measure the distance between the reference point and selected point ( as a target ) then rotate the frame and measure again the distace between the reference point and the new location of the target then try to evaluate the rotating angle
Detect the notable features of the object across the frames and map these common feature points. Estimate the change using rigid motion methods.
