I would like to analysis Landsat ETM+ image to demarcate the suspended sediment transportation along the offshore (coastal area).
Thayalan why don't you use MODIS I have used it in gulf which is quite turbid.

It depends at which spatial resolution you work, and for which purpose. MERIS and MODIS can provide you data at about 300 meters (over the whole visible spectra for MERIS), and only in the red for MODIS. However you can get much better spatial resolution using Landsat, but it has to be in higly turbid environment, and images are quite scared. In contrast MERIS and MODIS archives are available on proper web site since 2002 (check on eht NASA ocean color web site for exemple).

Yep hubert Nechad et al., 2010 worked very well with us in Persian Gulf using MODIS there was an under estimation in highly turbidwaters(10 - 60 mg/L) but was a perfect fit in lesser turbid water (14 - 15 mg/L)
Ocean Colour Monitors/Hyperspectral data are the best suited for this purpose. Once atmospheric effects are corrected, you can relate the SSC to water leaving reflectance by several techniques like band ratio, AWSS etc. I will suggest you to read one of my recently published (this month) papers in Marine Geology (Marine Geology,346,256-261).The results are really encouraging.
