Given the great impact of fiber Bragg gratings in DWDM communication networks we present aMatLab based graphical interface to d esign and model the FBG parameters to compensate the optical fiber linkchromatic dispersion. This tool allows the spectral analysis of Apodized and Linearly Chirped FBG’s in generalas well as the design of the grating device that can compensate for the c hromatic dispersion of an specified fiberlink. The spectral characteristics of the designed grating are shown as well as an estimation of the deviation fromthe ideal theoretical compensator. The application is really cost -effective from the computationa l point of viewand finally, it can also be displayed the time domain original pulse to be transmitted, the dispersion broadenedpulse and the recompressed one as well as the compression ratio, to check the behavior of the designed system (PDF) Design and Modeling Tool for Chromatic Dispersion Compensation with Fiber Bragg Gratings.
