You can use CRCN patch and also add your contribution in ns2 simulator, or in NS3 simulator.

NS-2/NS-3 is simply too difficult to learn/use. I would recommend NetSim (http://www.tetcos.com) for this. It is easy to modify and write your own algorithms. And it has a very vast 802.22 library for cognitive radio simulation.
