How can I simulate an electrical resistance in Abaqus (electro-mechanical coupling) ?

Hello all. I'm working on piezoelectric structures and need to know if there is anyway I can model and connect a simple electrical resistance to an excited piezo volume without resorting to user subroutines (UEL). If not, I would also like to know if there are any published works available regarding this subject.
