How can I take inputs such as radio conditions, cell load, 5G/6G frequency bands etc., and applying traffic steering policies. I wanted to model dynamic traffic conditions and handover thresholds and the evaluate performance metrics like sum throughput, UE distribution among carriers, PRB utilization and cell edge performance. I am using NetSim simulator but your inputs based on any simulator would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
To simulate 5G/6G traffic steering, start by creating a scenario with a large number, say 150-200 UEs (some could be GBR) and 3-5 gNBs operating on different frequency bands. Configure appropriate path loss and fading effects to model realistic radio conditions. Configure different traffic patterns, such as sparse/high-load, bursty/continuous etc.
Next, implement traffic steering policies. For example, use load balancing, to handover UEs to less congested cells. Alternatively, you could steer GBR UEs to under-loaded cells to ensure quality of service.
Evaluate the effectiveness of your traffic steering policies using NetSim's results. KPIs can include sum throughput, UE distribution among cells, PRB utilization, and cell edge UEs' performance. Begin with a baseline simulation without traffic steering, then apply your policy and compare the results.

In this examples UEs to be handed over from overloaded to underloaded cells in a multi-carrier environment. The usual HO-decision is (SINR-targetcell) - (SINR-servingcell) > Handover-margin With cell individual offset, the new HO decision would be (SINR-targetcell + CIO-targetcell) - (SINR-servingcell + CIO-servingcell) > Handover-margin.
