If you conduct your coupling in DCM, your DCU by-product will crash out, and you can get rid of it by simple filtration.

If the reaction in DCM medium, you just suction it or filter it most of the DCU will be eliminated, then you can purify with colimn chromatography

You can use EDC instead of DCC. Then side products will be water soluble, and then you can easly wash it out with water.
