Recently we have synthesized a kind of carbon material in our lab. I made powder through it and made electrochemical experiments after depositing on glassy carbon electrode. Now, I am going to test it as a bundle (cube) but the thing is that this material is very porous. In my mind electrolyte can penetrate and touch the collector (short circuit happens) . Can anyone suggest a way to prevent this kind of short circuit?

What do you mean by separator? (I am testing my material in a standard three-electrode electrochemical cell so I do not have cathode and anode as you mean it).....Do you mean some kind of adhesive ? If so, what adhesive does it well?
short circuit will happen if two metal parts connect each other. since electrolyte can not conduct electrons (electrolyte only conduct ions) there is not chance of short circuit. and if you are doing the analysis in two electrode system, place a separator (whatman filter paper will work) between the two porous carbon electrodes
