The radio resource allocation log provides a per-slice view of PRB allocation to each UE. By analysing the "Allocated PRBs" column, you can determine PRB usage per slice and plot PRB utilization over time to assess scheduling algorithm impacts.

NetSim allows configuring scheduling algorithms (Proportional Fair, Round Robin, Max Throughput) via gNB Properties > Interface 5G RAN > Data Link Layer. Enabling Slicing TRUE activates RAN slicing, with per-UE PRB allocation (UL/DL) logged per slot. Note that NetSim supports only RAN slicing, not core or transport slicing.

NetSim’s 5G NR library includes examples demonstrating different schedulers and their impact on resource allocation. Analysing these examples, along with logs and plots, helps in evaluating scheduling performance.

Start by setting up network slices in NetSim. This can be done through the Slice Configurator GUI or by using a CSV input file. The GUI provides an intuitive way to allocate resources to different slices, while a CSV file allows for bulk configuration

The RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) in NetSim manages the allocation of radio resources across slices. It interacts with the PHY, MAC, and RLC layers to ensure efficient resource management. This is useful when testing different scheduling algorithms - NetSim supports various algorithms such as Round Robin, Max Throughput, and Proportional Fair.

Run the simulations. NetSim provides detailed logs that include LTE NR Radio Resource Allocation entries, which can be used to identify resource allocation on a per slice basis. Look for the Allocated PRB’s column in the logs to see how PRBs are distributed among the slices.

Consider running multiple scenarios with varying traffic loads to see how PRB utilization changes under different conditions
