I am trying to measure finger tapping cued to a rhythmic auditory stimulus. Ideally, I would like to have participants press the space bar on a keyboard to the beat of the stimulus and measure the time between presses and the coefficient of variation of the time between presses. I have looked online for programs to measure this, but have not had much luck. Before taking the time to write a script for this, I'd appreciate any help in obtaining software that already measures this. Thanks!
I think the best way to do it is writing a script, that way you will have control over the exact measures you want to save. You can write a Matlab script for both the presentation of the stimulus and to record response times of the subject. I don't know if there are any software that does that but you should be able to find scripts for cognitive tasks that store RT - (response times) and work from there. Anyway, i will talk to my lab partners and check if we can send you one of our scripts that stores RT.
