I have Magnesium chloride (MgCl2) in the lab, but I want to make a solution that is equivalent to Magnesium chloride hexahydrate (MgCl2·6H2O) (0.831 g/L). What is the equivalent of the amount that I should use?
the answer is 0.389 g/l
the pure MgCl2 has a molecular weight of 95.20
the hydrate of 203.3
the result is (0.831g x 95.2)/ 203.3 = 0.389 g (per liter)
thank you
