What are the general equations for a conic selection. I want information about the atoms present in a conic volume of given radius and height. Please explain.
the numbers in the equation will define the position, size and the shape of the cone.
Notice that this equation will give you double cone (double base with the tip of both cone meet at the center) as in the picture in the link above. To deal with this problem in VMD I think you could add another equation like z > 10, where 10 is the z coordinate where the tip meet.
Oh sorry, I didn't notice that the one answering before me is the one asking question. I'm kinda wondering about your solution, since I can't find the same equation in the link that you've shared. How does it translate in VMD anyway?

Silly me, it is the equation 5 isn't it? Which is pretty much the same to the one I found, but simpler.
