Ingvild - my recommendation would be to request that your colleagues all use the same citation convention i.e. APA, Harvard, Vancouver etc. This makes it much easier to import collectively when you have them all gathered. You could send around a template that each individual can refer to - and pass on to the next - so that you end up with a single document. Bear in mind though, that for 20 or more people, that would probably take some time to complete the exercise.

Thank you, Dean Whitehead . We are more than 20 people, so I was hoping to save some time. We are considering asking for their citations in BibTex format, as it is compatible with many search engines and reference management tools, including EndNote. Do you have any experience with that approach?

Hi Ingvild, I am guessing your twenty colleagues must be using some sort of reference management software? If not Endnote they can download free software from Mendeley and Zotero. The default sharing format for bibliographic data is a .ris file. All reference management software can export or import .ris formatted files. It shouldn't really matter what citation format you use as you can change that in Endnote and if you use .ris it will export a core set of data in any case that is not formatted in that way. My other thought is if they send you a list of DOI's then you can easily import there references using the DOI lookup in EndNote. If you are still stuck does NIVA have access to a library.
