I'm trying to obtain the maximum VM stress on only one surface of my model.
The model is very simple: It's a cube with an encastre BC at the bottom and a pressure at the top.
I already have a script which gives me the VM stress but it's for all of the element of my mesh.
I'm trying now to obtain the surface where I want to find the maximum VM value but I'm stuck.
So if you have any information it will be helpfull.
The script is attached.
PS : if you run the script a second time you need to close Abaqus and delete all files with the name of the job.

So I have an idea.
I'm trying now to use 'getByBoundingBox' which allows to create a box and get all the elements in this box.
But I have this error message NameError: name 'getByBoundingBox' is not defined'
I tried to write import getByBoundingBox but I got this error message : No module named getByBoundingBox
Do you know from where I can import this module ?
Best in my opinion is if you define a set of the elements you want to extract before the analysis, then use the following command when you get the stress values:
getSubset(region= "your set")
Refer to the scripting manuals how to exactly use this feature.
Also, you might be able to output the stress values directly to the .dat file from that set, with minimum/maximum, which saves you the scripting altogether.

Thank you David Sziroczak for your help. I used a set of nodes instead of elements.
It's was easier for me to define it by using a face of my assembly.
