I'm looking for research that is peer reviewed regarding the practical routines that best suit kindergarten aged children. Specifically, what are the best time frames and content for subjects such as such literacy, math, science and social studies. What are the best times of the day for PE and how long do five year olds need for physical exertion, movement skills. What time frame is best for art and craft and at what time of the day?

The reason I'm asking is because I often come up against resistance, tiredness, fatigue and I'm not successfully deepening my students understanding. They are generally less resilient and less likely to want to be challenged as the day wears on compared to my students I taught over ten years ago. Often, by the afternoon they are totally avoiding academic challenges.

Thank you for any help regarding research about this.
