I like to do bathymetric mapping by using satellite image of landsat 8 sensor. particularly by using BAND blue (specification for bathymetric mapping). Is it possible.
Yes, with the key feature being that unlike previous Landsat sensors, Landsat 8 does have sufficient signal to noise to be used for effective bathymetric mapping using the passive multispectral methods previously published. The usual caveats apply: the depth of mapping is dependent on the water clarity and the spatial resolution will not be sufficient to develop maps for detailed navigational purposes.
You can find bathymetric mapping papers on ResearchGate. A good place to start to understand the traditional approach in passive bathymetric mapping is titled " Bathymetric mapping with passive multispectral imagery." The author is William Philpot. Another very effective approach uses look-up-tables and is titled " Bathymetry, water optical properties, and benthic classification of coral reefs using hyperspectral remote sensing imagery" It is available from Curtis Mobley.
Yes definitely, we can do bathymetric mapping, and there are few papers available in the public domain relevant to bathymetric mapping using for single band DN value of passive satellite images.
I am looking for a model of waterborne bathymetric drone (equiped with single-beam or multi-beam echo sounder) for the survey of highly turbid rivers and lakes and others complex aquatic bodies (drained rivers, ponds, shallow water) in tropical regions. Is somebody can provide me internet address of manufacturer? (speed : 5 m/s, jet propulsion) Thank you very much Jérôme
