Recently, I found a new metastable phase which has not been reported so far. The approximate phase constitution for this metastable phase has been measured by the EDS technique. Could I use the approximate element atom ratio to name this phase?
Would you give me some useful suggestions? Thank you!

I would think of using high-resolution diffraction technique such as synchrotron X-ray or SAED to also figure out the crystallographic nature of the new phase (it should be belong to one of the 230 space groups unless it is amorphous). Then terming by its symmetry characteristic (e.g. Fd3m, P63/mmc etc.) plus the composition determined from SEM/EDS would be fine.

You are right. Recently, I am trying my best to book the SAED instruction and I hope I would finish the SAED characterization as soon as possible. Also, the insitu synchrotron X-ray diffraction experimemt will be performed in the September, 2019.
