In my Project, I have identified by EFA&CFA, 11-factor model. The scale prepared is self-report and journals are rejecting the paper stating unacceptability of data based on cross-sectional and self-report inventory. Should I make it ipsatized for more accuracy? How can i convert my likert scale items to ipsatized items?
Nothing about ipsatizing your scale will address the issue that it is cross-sectional and self-reported. Are your reviewers telling you that your research question requires over-time data, and that they doubt the validity of self-report data for your topic?
As commented, "Your exclusive reliance on cross-sectional self-reports is a major limitation. Please consider that we tend not to focus much on “classic” personality contributions consisting of some cross-sectional correlational analysis of self-reported instruments only. "
It sounds like this is a comment from the editors, so there is not much you can do about that -- even if almost all traditional measures of personality are indeed cross-sectional and self-reported.
