Hi everyone, I have a 6 group Between Subjects Experimental Design - I want to check if the randomization for the groups worked.
For example, I want to check each demographic variable and see if there is a significant difference between the groups. I have data in the form of Gender, Household Income Level, Education Level, Marital Status. How can I see if there is a significant difference for these variables across the groups? I assume I can do the Mann-Whitney test for the Household Income and Education Levels since they are sort of ordinal in nature but what can I do for Gender and Marital Status?
use Chi square to analyse nominal data. What is the DV however? is it nominal, ordinal or interval? If the IV and Dv are different you will need to use other types of inferential stats.

First, congratulations for taking the time to check on how well randomization ended up working to equalize the groups on other, relevant variables.
For categorical variables such as marital status, I agree with Valerie Saunders 's suggestion that the chi-square test of independence is a useful choice. For the income/education variables, I'd suggest the Kruskal-Wallis one-way anova by ranks, as you're comparing six groups simultaneously for equality.

Once your variables are determined, you can always categorize them by tables and then cross-check the most relevant data.
