11 September 2016 12 977 Report

I am investigating domestic-scale and farm-scale pyrolysis to synthesise biochar from poultry manure and bedding also known as "chicken litter". The pyrolysis equipment is a batch reactor, so we do not have a uniform flow of hot gas.

I would like to dry the manure / litter to below 25% moisture and preferably below 10%. Please advise ideas or refer me to proven technologies.

Can solar heating be used?
