I have a paper that was rejected by a journal due to some writing and calculation errors. Unfortunately, the same journal assigned it a DOI and published it on various websites. I do not want this paper to be accessible on the internet. How can I remove it?
I am not quite sure that journal is a serious one because only predatory journals are most likely to behave this way. However, has the manuscript been published as your work or as the work of another author/author? Do you have documented proof to show that the manuscript was originally submitted by you and then rejected by the journal? Normally, you would have evidence that corresponds with the journal. Have you laid any complaints with the editorial team? There are several ways of dragging that journal on its knees to get your paper unpublished. Sadly, it is unlikely to get a published paper withdrawn. Unfortunately, predatory journals have the habit of behaving strangely. They might even ignore your complaints because they have nothing to lose. You could go ahead to revise that manuscript and submit it elsewhere showing proof that it is your original work.

If it was uploaded as a preprint on a platform such as Authorea or arXiv, these servers typically assign a DOI. In such cases, the process for removal or withdrawal must adhere to the specific guidelines provided by the respective preprint server.
