That is a good idea, the social science is also adding to the research, as it addresses the social phenomenon. But the issue is that the data as you said will be collected from the scientist, the scientists can be counted on finger tips and the study generalization will be a question. These networks will be working on diversified kind of topics then in the research it will be difficult be specific in the research.
Its a mind-blowing idea but dear researcher how will you determine which scientists to pick and sampling will be the most difficult part followed by assessment criteria for analysing use of social networks by the scientists.
I dont agree Amir, Sana and Bilal. Mainly because the phenomenon is relatively new. If you were to base on the research taking place all over the world, it would be very difficult to handle. And as afar as Pakistan is concerned, you will not find many active users. Although, many people have profiles on such sites, most dont have the time to participate actively. It is a field with a bright future but that future is atleast five years away. I would suggest keep this idea for your Post Doc and not your doctorate.
It is really a good idea. Of course you will meet some difficulties, but they are easily overcome.
