Currently, I am running severel solely organic reactions featuring intensively red colored byproducts or intermediates. However, UV/Vis reaction monitoring in DMF or MeCN (reactions are run in DMF) shows only the educt/product absorptions (both are colorless) below 270 nm. All solutions are homogenous. Is there any apparent effect or explanation for this observation?

I agree fully with the answer of Peter. But answerers cannot help if you don 't give any infos about your educt (s) like purity, as.o. and the conditions of your reaction (room temp or another conditions.
if you your educt is not pure, you can solve any impurities in it in DNF (running solvent)

DMF must be have a spectranal purity for UV-Vis because UV-Vis , like fluorescence, is very sensitive towards impurities.
