Can someone make an overall estimation of heat losses from a high temperature (650 C) thermal energy storage system (Hot rocks)? it would be nice if the estimation is a proportion of the TES total internal energy (X% /day, for instance)

Please considers the optimal, but practical, case. Consider the best insulation material, thick enough, its under ground evidently and so on. To which level losses could be reduced for such high temperatures?, For example, 1% of the TES total energy per day is a good estimation or not?
The best thermal insulation, will have at least 0,04 W/m/K conductivity; for 100cm of such insulation, R= 1/0,04+.13=25 m2.K/W
So for 1m2 of such insulation, 600°C inside and 0°C outside will mean 600/25=24 W/m2, plus thermal bridges and so on.
Your question is purely economic. Probably the most important question we must answer is: How much power should keep in heat accumulator to get payback for thermal insulation for a period of / example / 5 years?
