Can anyone direct me where I could source free high resolution (30m or less) satellite maps that I can use in ARCGIS to do habitat classification? The study area is 100 sq located in the district of Moyamba in Sierra Leone.
If you need data before 2014, you can search within the Landsat collection which dates back to the 1980s. They have resolutions of 30m and a huge image archive:
The simplest way to browse Copernicus Sentinel-2 optical images is via synergise Sentinel Playground.
I suggest to follow the attached link to directly view Sentinel-2 images on the fly. This will indicate which images (on which date) are relevant, based on cloud conditions.
Thank you very much Andreas and Jose. I had already tried the copernicus but after signing in i cannot get the sat maps for the area I am interested in. I might not know enough what I should be looking for but i have tried different combination of data sets without results (No products found). With USGS i managed to get jpeg and tiff images from sentinel2 but not enough quality. Maybe there isn't much for the area I am looking for. My study period goes from April 2016 to June 2017.
And the UN-Spider, I seem unable to find anything for the area of interest.
Thanks again for your prompt response, If you think of something else i can try, let me know.
In addition, in case that you want a higher resolution data for specific project, you can also make use of the Third Party Mission data delivered by ESA (normally via project submission). Please check https://earth.esa.int/web/guest/pi-community/apply-for-data/3rd-party
Regarding Andreas' comment, Sentinel-2A was launch on June 2015, not in 2014, just to avoid confusions. Was Sentinel-1A to be launched in April 2014. Hence, if you need data before August 2015 you should look into some other satellite products.
